The Seven Bowls (Vials or Saucers)

For continuity sake, recall that we are still in the period of the Seventh Seal that contains the Seventh trumpet. The Seventh Trumpet includes the Seven Bowls that are symbolically poured out during this period.

Perhaps a quick review of the situation thus far will be helpful (as we did at the beginning of chapter 8):

In chapters 2 and 3 the history of the Way and the Nicean Christian Church was discussed. We saw how the Way was merged through the Nicolaitane Heresy with Roman Paganism but that the Spirit of HaShem remained active within the Church. Then at the end of chapter three the Church was "vomited out" into the Tribulation Period as it became Babylon the Great.

Then we saw Moshiach accept his leadership role at Revelation 5:5.

Then in chapter six the Seven Year Tribulation Period officially began as Rex Mundi (the Antichrist) took to his global throne as ruler of the Novus Ordo Seclorum or Global Union as a knight on a white horse.

Also in chapter six the first six of the seven sealed scrolls were opened by Moshiach (Shiloh) as he took control of God's forces and entered into the final war (Armageddon is better thought of as the closing battle rather as a war itself).

The sixth seal was removed and the people cried out in fear at what it produced, convinced the end had come.

Then in the next verse (7:1) an unearthly stillness descended across the whole earth.

From 7:2 - 8:1 we saw the people of Earth huddled in fear for their lives, John's narration became parenthetical and he revealed more information about the fifth seal (6:9-11) and those who were sealed in God's service (i.e. the 144,000 Jews and the Great Multitude of Gentiles who will stand against Rex Mundi).

8:1 - 10:1 revealed the sounding of the first six shofars or trumpets.

Chapter 10 saw more celestial preparations and 11:1 and 2 showed John measuring the temple and so on.

We then discussed the rise and ministry of the Two Witnesses for most of chapter eleven and finally witnessed the sounding of the Seventh Shofar or trumpet at 11:15.

As I explained there: As you will doubtless recall, the Seventh Shofar/Trumpet is contained within the Seventh Sealed Scroll (as are the Seven Bowls we will read about in chapter sixteen). The Seventh Shofar is now [at 11:15] sounding as we reach this point in John's prophetic presentation. To avoid confusion here, this final shofar covers a longer period of time than its actual sounding would suggest. It will not actually be sounded at this point, but the prophet lists the events that follow under it as an inclusive time frame.

As stated, this Sounding of the Seventh Shofar includes the bowls that are being presented in our current text (15:1).

Then John again became somewhat parenthetical and we discussed the birth Israel while explaining that in chapter 12 the topic is the birth of the Kingdom (modern Israel is a democratic republic while the Kingdom will be a theocracy). We beheld the Jews flee to Petra, the exile of Lucifer and his fallen angels to the earth and their savage attack on the Jews and their allies.

Next as we looked at chapter 13 we discussed the four world powers under Lucifer's control and saw how Rex Mundi will rise from the restored Roman Empire that is even now arising.

At 13:11 John introduced us to the False Prophet (more on him soon) and then we spent a bit of time on the Mark of the Beast as we finished that chapter.

In chapter 14 we shared a bit more about the Mark of the Beast and saw as Moshiach is commanded to reap the earth as the Battle of Armageddon approaches.

Now in chapter 15 we return to the Seventh Shofar and its Seven Bowls that will be used to accomplish this cleansing of the Earth.

The time period is the Middle of the Week. Rex Mundi has risen from the dead as Lucifer incarnate.

15:1 I saw another great and marvelous sign in the sky: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them God's wrath is finished.

Note that Moshiach is giving "signs" with these Bowls. The Mark of the Beast is becoming legally mandatory at this point. Still some are joining with the Great Multitude and rejecting it. The time of the martyrs is now beginning in earnest. And Moshiach gives these signs as definitive warnings and proofs: Repent!

Recall this warning of Y'shua the Anointed:

Matthew 12:39 But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign...

Remember that in Scripture adulterous is more often than not referring to "spiritual adultery." As these signs are revealed to the most evil and spiritually adulterous generation in history HaShem is still saying:

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me. 3:21 He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

But this invitation is fast running out! For those who will have already accepted the Mark of the Beast the invitation is expired!

15:2 I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.

Again we see the Sea of Glass. As discussed earlier this is material existence (which is but a small fragment of the totality of existence). I explained before that while its not completely accurate to say, for the sake of understanding the scenes John is beholding, we can think of this as a crystal monitor or screen through which the Apostle is allowed to view all of material existence.

As John beholds material existence he sees that it is aflame with fires. These fires are the result of the ongoing war. He sees the plagues, the starvation, the fighting, the hatred, the envy, the strife of every kind... and he beholds the holy ones: those who have surrendered to HaShem. He sees those who are still alive and he sees the holy martyrs. He beholds all the Great Multitude who have and are refusing to worshiping the Beast, to receive his Mark or to conform to his image (I discuss this conforming to his DNA image here.) Of these "christianos" or anointed ones serve Moshiach we read the following:

15:3 They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
"Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways, you who are King of the holy ones.
15:4 Who wouldn't fear you, Lord,
      and glorify your name?
      For you only are holy.
For all the nations will come and worship before you.
For your righteous acts have been revealed."

Note the similarity between this and what the followers of Rex Mundi will proclaim:

Revelation 13:4 They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"

And yet notice the difference. Lucifer's challenge as recorded in the Book of Job is that people will choose to follow him, and yet now that he rules all the best his followers can say is that he is (seemingly) all powerful! Yet look at the adoration and praise of those who follow Moshiach and his God! Power? Yes! But its more that that. The people are realizing that HaShem was right! That He alone is Holy and Good and Just!

15:5 After these things I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

Again the blood of the martyrs and the acknowledge of the Earthlings that HaShem alone is Holy is what opens the Door of Heaven.

15:6 The seven angels who had the seven plagues came out, clothed with pure, bright linen, and wearing golden sashes around their breasts.

15:7 One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

These are the final seven judgments of HaShem that will lead up to Armageddon.

15:8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power. No one was able to enter into the temple, until the seven plagues of the seven angels would be finished.

This is the celestial Temple of HaShem.

    Here ends Chapter 15.
