We pray to HaShem, the Holy One of Israel, to fill our hearts with wisdom and understanding as we continue this study into the Revelation of our chief rabbi, Navi Y'shua.
The Sacred Beit HaMikdash
To maintain context we begin this episode with the final verse of chapter 10. The chapter and verse divisions of the Bible were added by scribes after the fact. Sometimes it is important to begin in previous chapters to maintain the context of what is being shared.Revelation 10:11 They told me, "You must prophesy again over many peoples, nations, languages, and kings."There is a tremendous amount of information contained in this verse! This single verse would require at least an entire book to cover fully! We'll attempt to be brief while covering its salient points.
11:1 A reed like a rod was given to me. Someone said, "Rise, and measure God's temple, and the altar, and those who worship in it.
11:2 Leave out the court which is outside of the temple, and don't measure it, for it has been given to the nations. They will tread the holy city under foot for forty-two months.
Note that the prophesy Navi Yochanan must deliver, now that he has "eaten the Little Book" (chapter 10) is directly related to the Beit HaMikdash or "House of the Holy." Those wishing to understand this portion of Rebbe Y'shua's revelation to Yochanan (and even this verse!) will want to undertake a detailed study of the Wilderness Tent of Meeting and Sanctuary, of the First and Second Jerusalem Temple, as well as the Heavenly Beit HaMikdash witnessed by Enoch (who was no more for God took him), by Moshe avinu, by Navi Elijah, Rebbe Y'shua, Rav Paul, Navi John and others. We hope to offer a study on the Sanctuary once our verse by verse examination of the Book of Daniel is completed (once this present study is completed).
Beit HaMikdash: The Sacred Temple
Navi Yochanan (John the Prophet) is now told to measure the Sacred Temple. Remember that Rav Yochanan (Rabbi John) is "in the spirit" and physically imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos around the year 95 C.E. as he is writing this. His soul has been lifted from his physical body and taken to the celestial realms (Revelation 4:1). There he beholds the Heavenly Beit HaMikdash, the celestial House of the Holy, the abode of HaShem.
Understand that HaShem is not a man that He should exist in a set time and place. He has no need of a Temple because existence itself is but His footstool (if we view existence charitably!). He has no need of adulation, nor praise and worship. HaShem is Ein Soph, the Eternal, existing beyond all conception.
AND HaShem is Love (I John 4:8). As His children we have love and the ability to love, however He alone is IS Love. and His Love reaches out to His creation as a parent's love reaches out to his/her children. As our Parent, God's Love reaches out to us in ways we can understand, even as earthly parents seek to guide our children in understanding and love. Because Love leads God to reveal Truth in ways we can understand, we should be humble and not be too literal minded when considering the secrets contained within the Sanctuary. What we understand is nothing compared to what we do not. At the same time, these mysteries are revealed to further our understanding and so each and every point is significant when properly understood. Balance and a realistic view our strengths and weaknesses are essential keys to spiritual life and proper Torah observance.
Navi John is measuring the celestial Temple here.
These events are taking place in the celestial realms.
Meanwhile in Jerusalem...By this point in our prophetic time line Rex Mundi will have been accepted as haMoshiach by significant Jewish and Nicene Christian leaders. He will also have been embraced by most other religious and non-religious people according to their own conceptions of who he is (i.e. as lord Kalki to the Hindus, Imam Madhi to Muslims, as "the great teacher" and/or as Maitreya Buddha etc).
By this point the third earthly Jerusalem Temple will have been completed, dedicated and desecrated (as taught at Matthew 24:15, II Thessalonians 2:4 and elsewhere), even as the Second Temple was polluted by the abominations committed by Antiochus IV Epiphanes. His name reveals a lot prophetically: "Epiphanes" means "Manifest God." This man claimed to be God incarnate and he outlawed Judaism and severely persecuted the Jews. We remember these atrocities annually during Chanukah (see: the Babylonian Talmud: Shabbat 21b, I Maccabees 4:56-59, John 10:22,23 for more in this). In the same way the coming despot will claim to be God incarnate and he will "wear out the saints" of HaShem (Daniel 7:25 ).
Ezekiel chapters 40-47 presents the basic layout of the Sacred Temple. Religious Jews have prayed for its reconstruction since the destruction of the Second Jerusalem Temple, destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE.
How then can the Jerusalem Temple be rebuilt?
There is some question about the hinderance of this prophetic fulfillment caused by the Muslim "Dome of the Rock" (Masjid Qubbat As-Sakhrah) and Al-Aqsa Mosque currently standing on the appointed site of the Sacred Jewish Temple. This question will have to be addressed when the time comes. The solution remains to be seen.
The Second Beit HaMikdash was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. In time the Holy City (including the Temple Mount) came under control of the Nicene Byzantine Empire. Jerusalem was later conquered in 637 CE by the Muslim Rashidun Caliphate army during the Islamic invasion of the Byzantine Empire. The Dome of the Rock was completed in 691 CE and is one of Islam's principle "holy places" (as Muhammad Mustafa supposedly rode a horse to Heaven from the site according to Muslim beliefs). Its real significance to Islam however is that the Jews want it.
Some have suggested that since Islam has no qualms about destroying the religious sites of others (examples include the once treasured Buddhas of Bamiyan in Ummah controlled Afghanistan, innumerable Christian churches -- Egyptian Coptic and others -- myriad Hindu mandirs and other Indian shrines, Jewish synagogues etc.) these Islamic shrines should simply be destroyed by the Israeli military (especially if the Ummah follows through with its threat to destroy the Pyramids and Sphinx now that Islam rules over Egypt thanks to to al Ikhwan Sheik Hussein Obama).
This is unlikely. Were the Israeli military to destroy these buildings it would result in a full scale Muslim attack on Israel. Israel is desperately seeking peace at apparently any cost (and making serious political missteps in that pursuit by seeking to appease al Ikhwan). Furthermore, Judaism has a long and well established tradition of respecting other religions, an admirable trait that all should admire. For these and other reasons the Israeli military cleansing Mount Moriah of these shrines seems very unlikely.
There are other options however.
If the Third Jewish Temple is the same percentage smaller than the Second Temple was from the First Beit HaMikdash, then the Third Temple could be built to specifications with three inches to spare on the sacred site without disturbing the Muslim shrines according to experts in this field. Of course under current realities, al Ikhwan would oppose this construction as vehemently as they would oppose the destruction of the Muslim shrines and again, the result would be certain war.
Consider however that according to the prophecies Islam will be embracing the Rex Mundi as well. If the man they regard as having been authorized by their god (whether they view him as the Twelfth Imam: Imam Madhi or in some other way), were to order this construction Islam would submit to his direction and even view it as a triumph. If we accept the biblical mandate of this coming global despot, this scenario works well.
However the events play out, the Third Temple will be built. Who knows, perhaps there will be an earthquake. HaShem is in control.
The time will come when the global despot arises and declares global peace and security. The elders of Israel will accept him as haMoshiach and the other people groups will embrace him as well. The Third Temple will be rebuilt just as prophesied:I Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains.
This will occur as described at Revelation chapter twelve as we will discuss in the next chapter.
The Kingdom is at HandMatthew 3:1 In those days came John the Baptizer, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,The Essene Master Yochanan the Immerser (John the Baptizer) and Rebbe Y'shua offered to establish the Theocratic Kingdom in the First Century but that offer was declined by the elder of Israel.
3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3:3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Yeshua began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.Because of their rejection, before the Kingdom would be established:Luke 21:24 .... they [i.e. the Jewish people] shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.HaShem will soon resume His dealings with His people from the point where the Temple fell to Rome. The Temple will be rebuilt according to exacting Rabbinic specifications. To this end the Temple Institute is doing amazing work. However the "interior" of the Temple is about more than golden goblets, furniture and curtains. Its about the heart and the blessings of HaShem.
According to Josephus (Anthologies 13:5-14) the Hasmonean (Jewish) King Alexander Jannaeus (son of John Hyrcanus, who died in 108 BCE) was once officiating as cohen gadol (high priest) during Sukkot when a group of P'rushim -- who were angered by his ongoing embrace of Hellenism -- publicly ridiculed him by pelting him with large lemon-like fruit (probably citrons given the timing). The Hasmonean King responded to this insulting challenge to his authority by forming a deeper alliance with the Tz'dukim (Sadducees) and having "thousands" of P'rushim executed.
The point for our present consideration here is that because of this event, control of the Holy Temple was given to the Tz'dukim (Sadducees) at this point. The P'rushim were barred from political activities as well as Temple maintenance. They became, in effect, village rabbis. For years afterwards they sought to reassert their authority as witnessed in the ongoing debates with the Tz'dukim described in the Gospel accounts. Under the order of King Jannaeus the Pharisees became a much weakened sect, yet HaShem had declared them to be His anointed representatives (Matthew 23:1-3). After the destruction of the Temple the Pharisees (Rabbinic Judaism) was established as the main body of Jewish thought and practice and continues so today.
Once the Temple is rebuilt it will again be governed under the authority of the P'rushim (the Rabbis). However according to the prophecies they will do so under the authority granted them by the coming dictator and globalist religion ("Babylon the Great"), even as they previously sought authority from Rome: which they invited into Eretz Israel with disastrous results.
The Four Great World Powers
Here's the point: The now emerging global government will be the reborn Roman Empire according to Prophet Daniel. We ascertain this through his vision of the four great world powers recorded at Daniel 7:3-7. These powers are:
- The Roman Empire
Rome, the fourth and final of these powers, never actually fell. Navi Daniel relates how the Roman Empire sub-divided into the ruling powers of Europe (Daniel 2:41,42) and how, one day, these powers would coalesce reuniting the Roman Empire. We see this happening today with the E.U. We will discuss this in more detail in our study on the Book of Daniel.
Once the Roman Empire reunites (which is to say, once the EU finishes consolidating its pollical and economic Union) a "little horn" (Daniel 7:8) will emerge to lead it. This "Little Horn" will be the Rex Mundi or Antichrist. He will be embraced as divinity by the now emerging global religion and will unite the religions of the world. As this happens, the Third Temple will be built and he will rule supreme for seven years.
At the end of the Seven Year Tribulation Period this final Roman dictator will be defeated and haMoshiach will purge and purify the Beit HaMikdash for good. Then:Isaiah 56:7 ...My house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
The Third Jerusalem Temple will thereafter be the central portal for religious observances during the thousand year theocracy and beyond.
As Rex Mundi rises to power he will be accepted as haMoshiach by the majority of Jews and Gentiles. Other than the 144,000 Israelites and the Goyim who unite with them in service to haMoshiach, most people will accept him. For those who wish to serve HaShem in spirit and in truth it is vital to understand these prophecies because this knowledge is a major source of our protection and hope. When he arises we must recognize and reject him.
