We pray to HaShem, the Holy One of Israel, to fill our hearts with wisdom and understanding as we continue this study into the Revelation of our chief rabbi, Navi Navi Y'shua.

The Seven Seals

There have been many creative attempts over the years to define the nature and symbolism of the seven seals presented by Talmid Yochanan, better known as the Prophet John the Beloved Disciple. Some people maintain dark and mystical significances that they offer to reveal to their followers... for a price be that price reckoned in finances or servitude and devotion to the group. Sometimes there is truth in such revelations, sometimes there is not.

Do you remember the massacre that took place in Waco, Texas in the 1990's? We do well to remember such attacks on our religious freedoms because, as is said, those who fail to remember the past are condemned to relive them.

David Koresh, the murdered leader of the Adventist sect known as the Branch Davidians, was one such teacher. Correctly or incorrectly David Koresh sincerely believed that God had revealed a secret teaching to him about these Seven Seals.

As David made preparations to release this material to his followers circa April 19, 1993, New World Order propagandists including Hillary Clinton, Janet Reno and Wesley Clark orchestrated the cold blooded execution by fire of David and 74 men, women and children who courageously refused to surrender their religious rights. For their faith and devotion to God they achieved the crowns of martyrs. Why did this premeditated conflagration of the Waco Mount Carmel community by U.S. government officials take place? We will probably never know however despite subsequent releases of material David's complete teachings on the Seven Seals were never revealed.

People take these matters seriously on both sides.

As we will see as we continue, the secrets held under the Seven Seals are contained within the pages of the Revelation. The more one sincerely studies biblical prophecy, especially from the perspective of the Meshiykhiyyim, the more plain these truths become.

At the beginning of chapter four we saw John enter into spirit consciousness and ascend to the Throne Room of HaShem. Now as chapter five opens John is still standing in the Throne Room of El Shaddai beholding the royal preparations for the dawn of the Thousand Year Theocratic Kingdom. The question he and the other talmidim had posed to Rebbe Y'shua so many years before is now being answered:

CJB Matthew 24:3 When he [Rebbe Y'shua] was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the talmidim came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that you are coming, and that the olam hazeh is ending?"

The talmidim asked our Rebbe as a renown navi (nabi) or prophet which events will accompany the end of the present age. The world as it now is out of balance with the Will of HaShem is known as the Olam Hazeh. The world as it will be once harmony is established is known as the Olam Haba, the world to come. John, a mere boy in his early teens at the time, was among the talmidim of Rebbe Y'shua who questioned their teacher on this issue. Now, after a lifetime of service, he is receiving the information.

Revelation 5:1 I saw, in the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals.

As explained at the beginning of this study, the Revelation of Y'shua, while given to us by Y'shua was received by him from HaShem, the God of Israel. This places the stature of this work among the other prophetic books such as Daniel. Indeed the Book of Daniel ends with this promise of further prophetic revelation:

Daniel 12:8 I heard, but I didn't understand; then I said, "My lord, what shall be the result of these things?"
12:9 He said, "Go your way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.

This is the same "sealed book" now held in the hands of HaShem Who is seated on His Throne. All true revelation comes from HaShem. As John beholds the unfolding events of chapter five the time has come for these prophecies to again be "opened" and the remainder of what Navi Daniel was shown to be revealed, now with understanding. While John beheld these things in the late first century CE what he saw will not take place until the end of the age and the dawning of the Olam Haba.

We should not misunderstand this point. The reference here is not to the literal, physical scrolls of the Book of Revelation and/or Daniel. Rather these revelations reflect HaShem's intention to reveal previously concealed knowledge, information He had withheld from Daniel to John and thence to those living at the End of the Age.

This is the way of Torah. As we discuss in our yeshiva lessons, the word Torah has many meanings and must be understood according to context. The central point of the various meanings of this important word (whether as the Five Books of Moshe, the Talmud etc) is the revelation of the Mind of Adonai to His creation. This is the case here as well. HaShem is revealing His Mind to John. He is "unsealing" truths for him previously revealed to and through Navi Daniel but kept hidden.

Still however John clearly does not understand everything he has been shown and much would not be understood completely until the End of the Age: "for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end...." Therefore in some cases the prophecies revealed from this point on will not always be understood completely, however as we are now approaching the End of the Age much is being revealed! It is very important when studying these things to maintain the humility to understand our lack of understanding. No one has all this material down pat and as these prophecies continue to be fulfilled before our eyes portions of what we expect to happen will doubtless occur in unexpected ways. We must always be open to the Ruach of HaShem to guide us.

5:2 I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?"
5:3 No one in heaven above, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look in it.
5:4 And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look in it.
5:5 One of the elders said to me, "Don't weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome; he will open the book and its seven seals."

The Lion of the Tribe of Judah

Although the text is not specific, we can assume the Elder who spoke these words was Binyamin, "son of the right hand," "the son of the south." This is because ten of the twelve houses had been lost by this point, only Binyamin and Y'hudah remained. Once Moshiach takes up the mantle of Melekh he will restore the ten houses of Israel, however at this point in the Revelation that has not yet taken place. It would be appropriate for Binyamin to praise the descendent of his brother Y'hudah in this way. Here is the reference:

Genesis49:8 "Y'hudah, your brothers will acknowledge you, your hand will be on the neck of your enemies, your father's sons will bow down before you.
9 Y'hudah is a lion's cub; my son, you stand over the prey. He crouches down and stretches like a lion; like a lioness, who dares to provoke him?
10 The scepter will not pass from Y'hudah, nor the ruler's staff from between his legs, until he comes to whom [obedience] belongs; and it is he whom the peoples will obey.

And so the angel reflects on the truth that only one person in history is worthy to open the seal on the Book of HaShem's Revelation. This imperative leads to the summoning of Y'shua ben Miryam. This is not so much a question by the angel as a statement of fact: Who is worthy to remove the seals? Who is worthy to bring in the promised Kingdom of HaShem revealed by the holy prophets? The angel knows: Only Moshiach (Messiah)! Only Shiloh! Only the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, who is the Root of David (Isaiah 11:1) and our coming King!

As discussed in part 4:C Numbers 23:24 is clear that people Israel are the lion collectively and that from them comes forth Moshiach, the Lion of the Tribe of Y'hudah. HaMoshiach is the epitome of the Jewish people, the standard of what HaShem desires in mankind. He is therefore worthy by virtue of his lived life and by his willingness to lay down his life for the glory of HaShem and the edification and instruction of his brothers.

The timing of this verse is very significant! John is narrating the preparations that are underway in HaShem's Throne Room for what lies ahead.

Here we see Moshiach anointed and accepting his assignment as melekh (conquering king) of Israel. In the next chapter his opponent, Rex Mundi will make his appearance known and these two generals will lead their troops to the final battle of the age! Preparations are still being made for these events as John witnesses in the sacred court of Adonai.

5:6 I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the [24] elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

When discussing the Seven Lamps it was explained that the reference is that HaShem is all knowing and that by His Glory and Omniscience nothing escapes His awareness. I also noted there that much more could be said. Here's a bit more on this.

Shiloh, the Moshiach, is now standing before the Throne of the King of all existence in complete submission as a humble lamb. HaShem has selected him to champion the cause of the Earth in the upcoming struggle and he has accepted this divine commission. This symbolism is harmonious with the way things were done in olden times. The King's appointed representative would stand in his presence and accept the anointing of the Throne. This demonstrated that whatever glory the champion might earn belonged to the King who had commissioned him. Y'shua ben Miryam has proven himself worthy of the anointing of the Throne (and He Who sits thereon).

Whereas the Twenty Four Elders (representing HaShem's anointed leadership over the earth's inhabitants) failed in their mission (Romans 11), Moshiach will succeed as he vanquishes all who stand against HaShem! Moshiach is described as a man fully empowered by HaShem due to his absolute oneness with the Will of Adonai. Even as the Seven Lamps reflect God's Glory, Power and Knowledge, so too the absolute authority over the earth is now being bequeathed by HaShem to His anointed melekh (king) for the upcoming struggle with Rex Mundi and the vindication of HaShem's reputation!

Recall that we noted the importance of remembering this ongoing challenge in our study of prophecy. Prophetically everything that takes place is happening to settle this ongoing case and to prove that Derech HaShem (the Way of God) is the Way of Peace and Life. Through these events Y'shua HaMelekh will lead the inhabitants of the earth in declaring the superiority of Derech HaShem.

5:7 Then he [i.e. Moshiach] came, and he took it out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne.
5:8 Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones.

There is a vital legal point here we don't want to miss. Remember we are viewing the Heavenly scene in terms of a court room where legally binding events are being recorded.

When one is in court the judge or his representative (a bailiff etc) makes legally binding offers and how they do this, and how one accepts or rejects them, is specifically defined in law. Y'shua ben Miryam is approaching the Judge of the Court.

One enters court from the "dock" and approaches the Judge by walking through the "public gallery." Once one crosses 'the bar' (usually shown as a little "fence," often with a swinging gate, located between the gallery and the Judgment seat), one enters the "ship" of the court proper. At that point one comes under maritime law in which the ship's captain (the judge) rules supreme.

Offers made by the "ship of state" are not handed to the person, they are placed on the bar table and slipped across. If one does not pick up the offer for whatever reason it is "tabled" and has no legal authority. Once one picks up the offer one is legally bound by its terms.

The first thing that must take place as one enters the ship is that the judge must confirm the identity of the person before him. As Y'shua ben Miryam entered the Heavenly Ship of State and approached HaShem the twenty-four elders, the Four Living Creatures and the attending angels identified him.

Y'shua ben Miryam, having been identified, approached the bar and accepted the Book from the hand of the Judge. This act will indicate his acceptance of and responsibility for the things contained within this book. Rebbe Y'shua accepts the Book even before its Seven Seals are removed because his service to the Heavenly Court is unconditional. As he accepts this charge from the Judge Y'shua the Nazarene will be accepting the legally binding anointing of HaShem as Melekh of Israel and Champion of the Jewish people. John descriptions are filled with important legal points demonstrating that everything that will be following this anointing will be done in absolute accord with the Law of HaShem as King over kings and Lord over lords.

As our elder brother Y'shua ben Miryam steps forward and accepts his destiny as Israel's Standard Bearer the Four Living Creatures (signifying all life on earth: Revelation 4:6) and the Twenty-Four Elders (signifying the leadership of the Jewish people throughout the ages Revelation 4:4) will bow low and place their full faith in him as melekh (king of the Jews). Note that this did not happen last time. The elders of Israel failed to accept his ruler-ship. But now, facing annihilation (Matthew 24:21, 22) 144,000 Jewish tzadikim (righteous Jews) will embrace his rule as we will discuss in more detail soon).

These 144,000 Jews (12,000 from each of the then restored houses), along with a great multitude of Goyim (Gentiles) will stand in recognition of Moshiach as the world's last and only hope.

5:9 They sang a new song, saying,

    "You are worthy to take the book,
    and to open its seals:
    for you were killed,
    and bought us for God with your blood,
    out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,
    5:10 and made us kings and priests to our God,
    and we will reign on earth

Despite what many Nicene Christians teach, this "new song" they will sing is not the B'rit Hadashah (New Covenant) established by HaShem through Rebbe Y'shua as Cohen Gadol. This will not be the New Testament or Covenant that has reigned since Cavalry when the Temple curtain was ripped in two and Rebbe Y'shua took upon himself the mantle of Cohen Gadol (High Priest and Mediator: I Timothy 2:5). No, this will be a new New Covenant. This will be the covenant spoken of by Navi Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 31:31 "Here, the days are coming," says ADONAI, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Isra'el and with the house of Y'hudah.
32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers on the day I took them by their hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt; because they, for their part, violated my covenant, even though I, for my part, was a husband to them," says ADONAI.
33 "For this is the covenant I will make with the house of Isra'el after those days," says ADONAI: "I will put my Torah within them and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they will be my people.
34 No longer will any of them teach his fellow community member or his brother, 'Know ADONAI'; for all will know me, from the least of them to the greatest; because I will forgive their wickednesses and remember their sins no more."

The revelation of this covenant is yet future. THIS is the Gospel that will be preached through all the world, "the Gospel of the Kingdom":

Matthew 24:14 And this Good News ["Gospel"] about the Kingdom will be announced throughout the whole world as a witness to all the Goyim. It is then that the end will come.

How do we know that this is what this verse is talking about rather than the proclamation of the Nicene "Gospel" as taught by the Church? Context. Read the next verse:

15 "So when you see the abomination that causes devastation spoken about through the prophet Dani'el standing in the Holy Place" (let the reader understand the allusion)...

The abomination of desolation occurs in the middle portion of the final seven years and this is when this proclamation of the Kingdom is going forth according to what John is being shown.

This is the message of the Kingdom. This is the message that will be proclaimed by the 144,000 Jews and the Great Multitude of Goyim who enter into full knowledge of authentic Messianic Judaism. This message will go forth after the Nicolaitan Laodicean Church is completely "vomited out" into the Tribulation Period. As we will discuss later as we continue, most of those who are charged by HaShem with proclaiming this End Time message will die in the process and they will proclaim: Omayn (Revelation 6:10)!

As the Beast, the Little Horn, the Anti- Christ, the Rex Mundi, the Son of Perdition, enters the word stage these Hinderers (II Thessalonians 2:7) will stand against him. They will boldly proclaim this man to be false and will point forward to the soon coming of the true Melekh of Israel. But at this point in our study, John is watching the anointing of the true Melekh of Israel as the heavenly hosts proclaim Omayn! And so do we. Blessed is he who comes in the Name of Adonai!

5:11 I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands;
5:12 saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!"

Do not be misled by the Nicolaitan teachings associated with this phrase. In John's prophetic time line, Y'shua ben Miryam, in utter humility, has now answered the summons to appear before the court of HaShem and to embrace his destiny as melekh of Israel. This call was made in part because during his life on earth as an ibbur neshamot our Rebbe demonstrated his willingness and his free will desire to live in complete harmony with the Will of HaShem. By his willingness to lead us by example and words into such oneness with HaShem these faithful people will now, also of their own accord, follow the Path of Martyrdom and proclaim the Gospel of the coming Theocratic Kingdom.

5:13 I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!"

As noted previously:

Romans 8:19 For the creation itself waits with eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.

Its not just we humans but all of creation that yearns for liberation (Psalm 82:6) from the Olam Hazeh. As we reach this point in our study we begin to see that liberation is finally at hand and all of creation proclaims Omayn!

But there remains difficult days ahead!
