Welcome to AllFaith.com and Beit Emunah's AllFaith Community Worship! We are a community of diverse people from different and unique backgrounds united in the belief that God is ONE and desires us to be of One Spirit.
We Are One In The Spirit As an AllFaith community, we recognize the Hand of the Divine all around us. The Holy One meets us where we are and leads us Homeward according to our individual marga or path while granting us the freedom to make our own choices. It's a delicate balance of free will and destiny. As Rebbe Nachman of Breslov said:
When a person is content to want only what God wants, God reigns as King. But when a person desires something other than what God desires, this gives strength to unholy forces. Those who are wise nullify their own will to the point where they have no will and desire for anything except what God desires, whether it be that one should have wealth and children or not, God forbid. It should be the same with everything else we want. We should desire only what God desires. This makes God alone our King - Likutey Moharan I, 177.And this is the purpose of our free will. We can accept or deny God's Will. When one chooses to harmonize one's will with the Divine Will, one is blessed; when one rejects or, God forbid, seeks to oppose the Divine Will, the intended Divine Blessings are withheld, and the person is left alone to their own devises, without the Light to guide them. We can walk in the Light or in the Darkness as we choose. Walking in the dark leads to the chaos we witness all around us. This chaos is not God's doing; it is ours.
Yeshua ben Miriam taught:
You have heard that it used to be said, 'You are to love your neighbour,' and 'hate your enemies,' but I tell you, Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Heavenly Father. For GOD makes the sun rise upon evil people as well as good, and sends rain upon honest and dishonest people alike - Matthew 5:45Truly we are ALL blessed!
One God, Our God - You Are Blessed!
The Path to One God's Glorious Light is composed of myriad Divine Rays and avenues of every possible color and hue. We at Beit Emunah and AllFaith.com, therefore, honor all paths of the One Light while remaining true to our inward knowing of what is best for us as individuals. Know that not everything done in the name of religion produces light, but that Light is never created by darkness, even though God sometimes uses the darkness as a catalyst for our coming to the Light. How amazing and compassionate God is!
We are all children of the One Light, children of the Day. We are not of the night or of the darkness, and we refuse to walk therein regardless of its source. Instead, we seek to produce the fruit of peace and harmony and to spread the Light of Love everywhere. Despite our differences, let us walk together as one family in the Light of One Truth.
But where can we find this Light? This One Truth? In a word: Faith. Emunah. Śraddhā. By whatever name. ONE GOD.
We sometimes think of God as being outside of ourselves, perhaps in Heaven, Gan Eden, Svarga, the Merkaba, in Aksharbrahaman, and this is undoubtedly correct. God is there. The Beloved One eternally dwells in that Divine Abode beyond all conception. But GOD also dwells intimately within each of us because GOD is Everywhere. If we look within, we will find the Divine Presence is there waiting for us to Wake Up:
It's Time To Wake Up!
The ancient Indian text Mundaka Upanishad compares the mortal soul and the Supreme Soul with the parable of two birds sharing a single tree. There, it is explained that two "birds," inseparable companions, perch in the same tree of the body. One eats the sweet and bitter fruit of the tree, while the other looks on unattached, protectively watching the other bird. The first bird is our individual self within duality. We feed on the pleasures and pains of this mortal world. The other is the Universal Self, One God, Who silently witnesses our actions, patiently observing our development as we eventually awaken to Reality. One God watches as we consume the fruit of material existence until, at last, we realize we are not beings of this temporary existence. No matter what we "eat" in time, we become hungry again. One God patiently awaits until our desire for the real food of the spirit is awakened. Then God assists us in ascending upward into the "skies" as our true Self unfolds like a beautiful flower in the Spring of our Being.
This spiritual concept can be presented in myriad ways. It is what Yeshua ben Miriam taught when he explained in John 6:51:
"I [the true Self beyond material illusion] am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."In other words, to realize the true "I" or Self, this life of fleshly identification and desires must be transcended and laid aside, as Yeshua exemplified in his life. One must "die" to the material ego, the lower self, and be "born again" of the Spirit in order to escape the material realms of fleeting pain and pleasure. This essential teaching is taught by all masters of the Light.
As Sri Krishna explains so beautifully in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, we are asleep under the influence of Maya or illusion. But we can awaken when we are ready and choose to. How can we escape material dualism and awaken to who we truly are? Again, through Faith. Emunah (faith in Hebrew), Bitchon (trust in God), Sraddha (faith in Sanskrit), Bhakti (devotion to God). As it says in Romans 10:17: "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." We must HEAR the Word of God. We hear the Word through the various Scriptures, through meditative, prayerful introspection and contemplation, through the Song of Redemption revealed to us by God, through LISTENING to God in nature. GOD is everywhere and speaks to us in innumerable ways. We can HEAR the WORD, IF we will only LISTEN to that still small Voice and CHOOSE to wake up. As Scripture advises in Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the earth!"
Open My Eyes Jesse Manibusan I Kings 19:11-13 says the same:
Then GOD said [to Elijah], "Go out, and stand on the mountain before God." And behold, GOD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before GOD, but GOD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but GOD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but GOD was not in the fire; and after the fire a Still Small Voice. So it was, when Elijah heard the Small Still Voice, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly, a Voice came to him and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"The point? LISTEN to the Small Still Voice rather than to the bellowing winds, earthquakes, and rains of this world! They are only parts of trhe illusion that binds you. If you find GOD not within, you will never find GOD without!
As Rebbe Nachman teaches:
When you have faith, every day is filled with good. When things go well, it is undoubtedly good. But even if things go wrong and you suffer, this is also good, because you trust that God will have mercy and eventually send good to you. Why? Because everything must be good, since everything comes from God, Who alone is True Good.But a person who lacks faith is not truly alive because, as soon as something bad happens, they give up all hope. They have no way to comfort themselves because, having no faith, they have placed themselves outside God's providence. Therefore, for them, there is no good at all. But if you have faith, you will have a good and beautiful life - Sichot Haran #53.
Likewise, in the Bhagavad Gita, faith, known as shraddha, is presented as the fundamental and transformative force. Faith is not merely a passive belief, according to Sri Krishna, but an active trust and conviction that shapes one's actions and spiritual progress. Faith, according to the Gita, is intrinsically linked to one's true nature, and it influences our understanding of the material world and our spiritual journey.
In Buddhism, faith (saddha in Pali, shraddha in Sanskrit) is a crucial element for spiritual progress, not as blind belief, but as a trust in the Buddha's teachings and the path to enlightenment. It's a conviction that the Dharma or teachings and the Sangha (community) can guide one towards liberation from suffering. This faith is not passive acceptance, but a motivation to explore, practice, and verify the teachings through personal experience.
In Jainism, right faith (samyagdarshana) is considered crucial for spiritual liberation, alongside accurate knowledge and proper conduct.
In Sikhism, faith is paramount and deeply intertwined with daily life. It's not just a belief in God, but a way of experiencing God's presence in all aspects of life and acting accordingly.
Sikhs believe in one formless God, and their faith emphasizes devotion, truthful living, and selfless service to humanity. Living a life of faith in Sikhism involves remembering God, earning an honest living, sharing with others, and transcending negative tendencies.
As the Tehilim states (Psalm 127):
Unless God builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so God gives His beloved sleep.
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
Ultimately, it's ALLFAITH! We pray God will open our eyes to the truth that God is everywhere and that we are all God's people, One Family.
God is Everywhere!
