Welcome to AllFaith.com and Beit Emunah's AllFaith Community Worship!
We are a community of diverse people from different and unique backgrounds united in the belief that God is REALLY ONE and desires us to be of One Spirit within our diversity. Each of our Sunday gatherings have a different focus. This week: God of the Mountain, God of the Valley
Opening Prayer
Friends, today we gather to explore a profound truth shared across many spiritual paths: the Divine is not confined to one place, one time, or one experience. Whether we stand atop a mountain peak or in a quiet valley, whether we walk in daylight or navigate the darkness of night, whether in the good times or the hard time—the same Divine Presence remains.

God is not a limited being, God is everywhere!
The Katha Upanishad teaches:
"The Self is not born, nor does It die. It did not arise from anything, nor did anything arise from It.
Unborn, eternal, everlasting, ancient, It is not slain when the body is slain."And in the Bhagavad Gita (10:42):
"But what need is there, Arjuna, for all this detailed knowledge? With a single fragment of Myself I pervade and support this entire universe."
The mountain represents the heights of spiritual aspiration. The time of joy, when everthing is going the way we want it to.
The valley represents humility, grounding, daily life. Both are sacred. But the valley can also represent the hard times. The time of doubt and fear, when things are no going the way we want. BOTH are essential and without one we could not appreciate and grow through the other.
The Psalmist (Psalm 139:7-10) speaks directly to th is theme:
"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me."
The Psalmist understands that God is in the heights and the depths!
The Talmud (Berakhot 6a) says:
"The Holy One, Blessed be He, fills the entire world, yet there is no place devoid of His presence."
This teaching reminds us that holiness is not reserved for temples or mountaintops—it permeates all space. There is no place without the Beloved!
In the Guru Granth Sahib Guru Nanak writes in the Japji Sahib:
"The Lord is in the East, the West, the North, and the South. He is above, below, and within all."
The Divine is not limited to any localation, religion, nationality, race.... Every direction, every elevation, every holy book given to sincerely seeking people holds the same Holy Presence.
Many Indigenous traditions speak of the Sacred Circle:
"All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons and daughters of the earth. We did not weave the web of life; we are merely one strand in it."
The mountain and valley are not separate realms—they are part of one living web that manifests from and returns to the Source of Being, whom we call GOD.

Even in darkness, the Light remains. The Buddha taught that enlightenment is not dependent on external conditions. John the Beloved said (John 1:4-5)
"In God there is life, and the life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
The Divine Light persists through all darkness—not by eliminating it, but by enduring within it.
Isaiah 45:7 says:
"I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things."
Both day and night come from the same Source. Both the Mountains and Valleys come from and return to the One. Nothing is abandoned.
As we read in the Tao Te Ching (Chapter 16)
"Attain complete emptiness, hold fast to stillness. The myriad.
The center is conceived in myriad way but whatever the language and terminology the center is that sacred place, that divine presence that eternally exists and can be found at the core of YOUR being. If that which you seek you find not within, you will never find it without!
