We begin on page 3 with Yedid Nefesh: Beloved of Our Souls
Today we are honoring the Jewish Festival of Pesach, also known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread or matza! Pesach is also the annuel Day of Remembering of the Exodus. It is observed for eight days beginning on Abib/Nisan 15 (sunset 14th). Passover celebrates the beginning of the harvest season in Israel, however much more importantly Pesach remembers (reminds us of) the Exodus from Egypt, the central event in Jewish history.
On the first night of the feast Jews are encouraged to ponder the question: "Why is this night different from all other nights?" It's difference and its observance was instituted at Exodus 12:14, which reads: “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to Adonai, the LORD as a lasting ordinance."
The Passover history is recorded in Exodus Chapters 1-15. Many of the specific Pesach observances are instituted in Chapters 12-15, other aspects come from diverse Jewish tradition.
During Pesach all chametz (leaven: anything made from the five major grains — wheat, rye, barley, oats and spelt) — are removed from the homes and strictly avoided by the observant. Ashkenazi Orthodox Jews also consider rice, corn, peanuts, and legumes (beans) to be of this category based their Rabbinic traditions. Everything regarded as chametz is removed from the home in memory of the fact that the Israelites fled Egypt in a hurry — not taking time to even let their bread rise. This tradition is also symbolic of our desire to remove the puffiness of arrogance and pride from our souls. Indeed, this chametz of the ego is far more important than removing the forbidden food stuffs. This is a time to take stock of what really matters in life, realizing that in a moment our lives could be drastically overturned by circumstances beyond our control as was theirs. Our only hope is in HaShem alone. Second to that alone is the reminder of the biblically mandated and often missing achdut or Jewish unity. In 70 CE God destroyed the Second Jerusalem Temple due to Jewish infighting and lack of unity. Sadly, history is repeating as Jews are less united today than at other time since 70 CE.
My fun retelling of Pesach as a video story may be seen here: https://rumble.com/v20zdxq-a-pesach-tale.html
Beginning on the second night of Pesach, tonight, the 49 day Omer count begins. May those counting be strengthed and bless. For my spiritual guide to the count see here: https://learnemunah.com/holidays/omercount.html
Faith or emunah in God and unity of the Jewish people are the heart of biblical Judaism! Rambam explained in Mishneh Torah, Shoftim, Rules of Mourning:
"'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Everything that you would like others to do for you, do them for your brothers.'
Rabbi Shmuel David Luzzatto said: "Our nation's success depends only on brotherly love, on connecting as one family."
And again, as a Jew, "One does not live for oneself but for the whole chain. Thus, each and every part of the chain does not receive the light of life into itself but only distributes the light of life to the whole chain." — Baal HaSulam, Introduction to the Book Panim Meirot uMasbirot. Am Y'Israel is that yet today the chain is seriously broken, as it was in 70 CE.
As the great former Chief Rabbi of the UK, Rav Kook, explained in Orot HaKodesh, "The revealed unity of the moral, spiritual, and intellectual world, along with the material, technical, and social world is expressed in the world through Israel. The skill of the land of Israel is to establish in the world the revelation of this unity, which gives a new face to the entire human culture."Please turn in our songbook to page 26 for Adonay Mâlâch Adonai Reigns! It is through faith in HaShem and unity with our fellow Jews, regardless of movement or sect, that God's reign is affirmed before the other nations. According to the Torah this is our duty as Jews to the other nations and to God. We are supposed to be a welcoming and encouraging light on a hill to the world. This concept is clear in the Tanach. For example:
Isaiah 49:6: "I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth".
Isaiah 60:3: "And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising".
This is because Israel is commanded in Exodus 19:6 to be a "kingdom of priests and a holy nation." Our collective failure to meet our Torah obligations is a key reason for the growing anti-semitism today. As the Jewish reformer Yeshua ben Miriam taught, the Jews are commanded by God to be a light unto the other nations at Matthew 5:14-16. He warned:
"Don’t think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets [or Navaiim]. I have come not to abolish but to observe. Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah — not until everything that must happen has happened. So whoever disobeys the least of these mitzvot and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever obeys them and so teaches will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness is far greater than that of the Torah-teachers and P’rushim [Rabbis], you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven!During Pesach especially we Jews should heed this counsel. It was true then and it is true today.
It seems like everywhere we look there is division, one religion versus another, one party, denomination, or movement against the others, me versus you! Enough! We need to join together and resists those seeking to divide us!

One God, called by innumerable Names, has been here since before the beginning and will be here forever. Our understandings change. Sometimes we move forward and sometimes back, but God never changes. Know God!
Never Forget: God is Everywhere!
Humanity must seek and find Truth within our hearts, not externally in creeds and dogmas. And yet we are social beings. History demonstrates that when people unite, they can survive anything! So, know yourself, be freed from human dogmas and share your light with the world around you. Use wisdom and discretion always. People may not understand you. They may reject the Truth as you know it to be. It has always been this way. But know that you are worthy of love and respect. Don't believe those who say otherwise. Often, the most externally religious people are the least spiritual. Not always of course, but far too often. Seek Love! Know Love! Be Love!
Let's turn to Page 31 for In The Garden, How Great Thou Art, and, Seek Ye First.Praises and Prayers to God. We now invite those present in the Zoom room or on Rumble to share their brief prayers and praises. Speak directly to God or to our community, whatever is on your heart and mind.
The Rahabilitation Center plans to release Gavi on Monday. We pray this goes well and that she is ready and able, along with Sam, to continue her recovery at home.
May One God hear our prayers and respond favorably to us.

Announcements:
Note: All Times are Eastern. My new book Below We Stand is NOW available on Kindle and in paperbook at Amazon.com.
I hope you will pick up a copy and join four friends on their quest as they learn the essential principles of embracing their humanity against all odds. Stuck in an unfulfilling, technologically repressive dystopia, they strike out together to find better lives and, in the process, help to save the world.
The Amazon link offers a sneak peek into the first two chapters, giving a taste of the novel's content.
The story explores human relationships and unlocks our shared humanity as the main characters join together to stand against a fictional but recognizable growing global trend toward tyranny. It calls for humans to see beyond our historic sectarianism and unite against the rising homo deus replacement species currently being advocated by people like Yuval Noah Harari and the transhumanists. The book also has a strong spiritual element and calls on God to help us help ourselves because, ultimately, One God is humanity's only hope, and we must awaken to that realization if we hope for peace and well-being.
