Please Note:I am a Rabbinic Jew, an ordained rabbi, an independent minded Breslover, and a committed Zionist. My presentations on the world's religions are not Avodah Zarah - i.e., the halachic prohibition of Jews (and/or Noahides) observing the religions of the other nations. Some people are born into a culture, religion, etc., and never question what they received from their parents or culture. I respect that. Others of us challenge and question what we have been taught, seeking ever deeper understandings. If religious/spiritual attainment is as important, as all the religions say, then certainly it is a virtue to study and understand what one believes, not as parrot who repeats what has been said, but as an intelligent person whose beliefs and faith are rooted in knowledge. I know what I believe, and I know why I believe it.
I have invested most of my sixty plus years to studying the world's religions as part of my personal quest for attachment (devekut in Hebrew) with the Holy One, Who Alone is Blessed. I hold a Masters degree in World Religious Studies, an Interfaith counselling degree, and various ordinations and certificates from diverse religious systems. More than book learning however, I have endeavored to understand the religions "from the inside," as the practitioners do. I have found much good in the Sanatana Dharma, as well as some negatives. The same is true of all religions of course, including my own Judaism.
As the rabbis make clear, HaShem is the only real God. HaShem hears and replies to the sincere prayers of all people regardless of their belief systems. This is one reason why conversion to Judaism is so difficult. Most people do not need to become Jews. We should readily acknowledge that good exists in the other paths while we maintaining the holiness and uniqueness of our own. Judaism is the proper religion for the Jews. It is in this spirit that this section of AllFaith.com is gradually being restored to the domain. In these studies I am not endorsing any religion. I am merely sharing my understandings as one who has deeply studied and sought God through prayer and meditation. My Jewish biases not withstanding. I have hundreds of pages to gradually restore. I am now focusing on this task. Thanks for your patience.
As always, I invite your comments, questions, submissions, and corrections on the topics covered here.
